SET-Plan Implementation Working Group 4 - 2nd Symposium on Interoperability + Data Spaces
On 6th June 2024, the Symposium on Interoperability and Data Spaces, an event highlighting the critical role of interoperability in digitalisation took place in Trieste. Organized by the ERA Net / CETP European Collaboration Network for Interoperability Testing, in collaboration with the int:net project, this symposium brought together experts and researchers for an insightful exploration into interoperability testing and innovations in digitalisation.
The symposium coincided with the IHE Connectathon 2024, the annual healthcare sector test event, providing a dynamic backdrop for attendees to witness firsthand the structured and collaborative nature of interoperability testing. The chosen venue, buzzing with hundreds of software developers engaged in meticulous testing processes, offered a live demonstration of the complexities and successes of system integration within an established community.
A highlight of the event was the cross-sector exchange on data spaces, which saw enthusiastic participation from representatives across five different sectors. This cross-pollination of ideas fostered vibrant discussions and the sharing of challenges and solutions, aligning with the event's goal to initiate a meaningful dialogue on harmonised technical standards.
Overall, the symposium was well-received, successfully initiating the desired cross-sector exchanges and laying the groundwork for future collaborations. The enthusiastic response from participants underscores the importance of interoperability and the need for continued efforts towards harmonised technical standards in driving cost-effective and innovative digital solutions.
